Cool Motor Decision

Ok guys, I think I have finally decided on an engine.

GMPP 350 HO Crate Engine

What would I have to do to make this engine fuel injected? Could I just bolt on a TBI intake and purchase a Hypertech chip? The truck is an '87 350 with TBI.

The note says it is not intended for fuel injection. You might call them and see why. It also looks to have Vortec heads, you would need a TBI adapter and vortec intake for it as well.

i think a better option might be for a ramjet 350 if you want a crate small block with fuel injection, OR getting one of these http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...120&pid=156334 and converting it over to an aftermarket fuel injection set up. the thing might be that the cam is to big and has to much of a lope to it wich the knock sensor will pick up as detonation.

The thing is though, I can't spend a lot of money, so I am looking at many different options. The ZZ383 would be nice, but I can't afford to spend that much right now.

i dig it. like i said your first pic, the cam in it might have to much lope in it and the knock sensor would pick it up as detonation. not good.

I ran this engine in my 86 GMC a while ago. Excellent combination of performance and good daily use. I ran a 650 Holley, and that with a good ignition system will be terrific. FI is expensive and of no real use unless you go to a computerized system. The Ram Jet GM system is more for looks, it will work slightly better than a carb, but not cost effective in my opinion.

With the Vortec heads you will need a correct intake, Edelbrock has one and the GM one is made by Edelbrock anyway.

That's about the best deal going on a GMPP crate motor. It's hard to beat the bang for the buck on that package. Check with Summit Racing for the best price with free shipping....
