Strange SPID ?

went to look at a 67 stepper yesterday locally
the SPID had some stuff I've never seen...it looked like a V8/Auto but nothing on the SPID?
it has a lot of strange "options"
(this picture was on the listing...I didn't take one myself)

You are probably joking, but (just in case) - SPIDs are not "typed" by an individual. They are printed automatically from a central database.

If it is the base powertrain it may not appear on the SPID, depending on the plant.

Probably. Those look like Specialty Equipment (aka "SEOs") or fleet options.

Looks like it has already been snatched up. The listing is removed.

Keith, any idea why a spid would be printed up with all that?

Re: Strange SPID ?

Registered Publication Unit is a US Navy or Air Force term.

Which might also explain the "PERM A/F UNIT" on there, too.

Pretty cool, love to see more pics, wish something like that was for sale around me.

Interesting...that may also explain all the "publication unit" entries
God knows the government has endless paper trails...
I didn't think the A/F stood for Air/Fuel....

Probably the original color... extremely cool truck, I wonder if anyone restores them specifically back to their armed forces glory, that would be neat.

Re: Strange SPID ?

If it had ''Deluxe Air '' it was Air Force. If it was the Navy [from whom the Marines stole all their trucks] there would be no A/C. They seemed to think sweat was good for the soul and A/C cost too much anyway.

I just looked at the listing. It’s still there.
The spid looks like someone copied the build sheet and put anything they thought was supposed to be on there. BTW the font doesn’t like right on it either

The Fleet Side slang for stolen gov't property is ''Comshaw''.
Korean for ''Thank you very much'' is <<Kamishah Ibnida>>.

Air Force had some with 454s so they could jet them pilots out to the flight line in a scramble.
Navy* models were the 250/3-on-the-tree.
[*And Tactically-Acquired CUCVs in the Marine Motor Pool.]

Re: Strange SPID ?

With 454s in the Navy trucks they'd launch those aviators right off the flight deck.

You've obviously never heard the cats screeching on a carrier. I don't know what's worse, the cats screeching, or the jets landing and catching the arrest cable and going to full afterburner just in case they didn't. Can't have a fighter aircraft falling off the end of the ship, sploosh. I worked in the engine room, and in spite of all that noise I was able to sleep. Fatigue works wonders. I could sleep at the drop of a hat in those days, as one never gets enough sleep in some jobs, of which mine was one.
