Cool Whats The Best Exhaust....

Hey everyone...im sorta new to this site and i had a couple of questions...im looking to buy an exhaust system for my 72 K5. But im not real sure of what the best one out there for my blazer is. If anyone has any ideas or any systems that you have AND like...PLEASE let me know. that would be great if you could. And sorry about all the double and triple post ive posted im trying to learn about this new site....thanks alot

I am personally a fan of flo masters! I like the sound of stock manifolds, and a 3" dual exhaust! Run an H pipe to give it a nice even sound. Id also run the pipes clear out the back, less cab noise, and less smell of exhaust in cab as well. I ran mine out the rear corners at an angle, vs my freind who ran it straight out the back and the cab always smells like exhaust!

I got headers and 2.5" 40 series flowmasters with turn downs right before the rear seat and I love the sound it makes. I don't get any exhaust smell inside the cab either.

headers, shorty Flowmasters, turnouts in front of th rear tires. Great for drowning out the rice-burners at the light...

Hmm.. I've got a serious exhuast smell in my Jimmy and have verified that there are no leaks in the system.

Are you saying turn them out or keep them straight? I've got them straight out the back and can't get rid of the exhaust smell right now

As with all Blazers and what are now called SUV's, there is a low pressure zone created by the flat back of the truck. Nod only does this cause drag and bad gas mileage, it forces air into the truck. I'm sure everyone has noticed how incredibly dirty the tailgate and hatch get. If they don't seal well, exhaust and road gime (especially in the rain) are drawn inside. If I left the rear window down in my old '79 in the rain, The inside of the windshield would get wet!

A good remedy is a spoiler. A lot of Suburbans and station wagons have them to duct air down the back window to help keep them clean. Routing your exhaust out the side or even angled out the rear corners is another way to reduce or eliminate this.

My Exhaust System

I Have A 1970 K5 With A Custom Built 350 Bored And Filled With Lots Of Goodies Cranking About 400hp . I Put Hooker Headers On It Going Thru Custom Built 3" Pipes With A Crossover Tube.....this Is A Must. It Gives You More Torque,smoother Exhaust Sounds And Even Flow From Your Headers. The Pipes Go Thru Flowmaster Delta Mufflers With Dual Exhaust Tips On Both Sides Of The Rig. When That Sucker Cranks Up..... Girls Even Say Wow! Does That Sound Awesome. You Could Get Cheaper Stuff But I Think You Would Regret It. I've Had Cat Back Systems ,too, But For My K5 This Was Perfect. You Can Hear The Detroit Horsepower.....something You Want....you Don't Want Your Rig To Have A "rice Burner" Sound Do You ? Good Luck,keota

I don't have so many goodies under the hood, but my 383 stroker is @ 400+hp. I've thought about a crossover, but where to put it? Where's yours? My Flows are right under the seats. It sounds pretty good, but just too crisp for my aging tastes. I'd like a smooth, deep, hollow growl, instead of the standard chevy rumble. I hate to admit it, but I REALLY like the sound of the new Mustang GT's. I've always wondered what a rice-burner coffee can would sound like on a real engine...
