The truck does need the suspension sitting @ ride height for calculations. It can be up in the air on some cribbing or similar but the suspension needs to under compression.

1pc vs. 2pc. driveshaft is dependent on multiple factors:
*Overall length (critical speed calculation)
*Set-up complexity
*Shaft OD

The 2pc can help w/angles but will require more thought/consideration when you're getting aggressively low.

ok i think best bet is to get the trailing arms back on with the new bracket and set the truck on the ground....then air it up to see what ride heights i like and then go from there. need to dig around the forums to see what the bagged suburban or bagged long bed guys are doing for driveshaft. im the leaving the TA crossmember stock, so that might limit me to which driveshaft i can use. i have my stock 2 piece and i also have the one off the donor truck (2002 tahoe) ....either can be cut down and sized with the right u joints. or option 3 would be to make a complete new one...but i hope thats not necessary

I'm betting the 2pc set-up is what you'll ultimately use whether it's the OE 'Burb unit or a re-worked Tahoe piece.
