Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

Some of us have truck projects that may not have been touched in awhile.. maybe years?? Yet we find the time to browse the forum somehow.

I have a challenge for yall...

Let's see who can break the longest streak!

1. Post your 47-59 Truck project
2. post your streak of not working on it..how many years? (check your build thread if you need to)
3. post a photo of you actually doing something to it on or after today, 1/24/21, that breaks the streak. Let's get that project going again!! You know you want to drive it.

Whoever braves the cold, the piled up crap in front/on top of/inside of their truck after waiting the longest, gets this sweet Craftsman box cutter keychain! I will mail it to ya, postage paid. We'll say, best by Feb. 6th? This is on the honor system. Be cool.

Of course, the real prize is forward momentum, but damn this keychain is sweet.

Great idea!!

For me its only been since this past Saturday, so I'm pretty sure 48 hours isn't going to win me any prizes.

Not gonna win this one. Don't post much any more but continue to work on the COE on a regular basis with some major upgrades, 98 VW door latches, fuel fill relocation, trans swap, removed front air ride, paint on hood, and drive the snot out of it. Closing on 200K on the build. Cant figure out how to get pictures from my phone to laptop (lazy). Oh and my time is 16 hours.

Worked on the 57 yesterday but gave up after 2 hours in the mud. It's been challenging with 2 snow storms lately. Everything needing done is under it. I need a shop!

LOL I love this! I moved 700 miles 2 and a half years ago and have only touched mine a little bit. I was working on it every single day, so this is quite different. After about a year and a half I spent some time on the hood.....a year ago.

Mine has been outside for a couple of years too, and the weather was either too hot or too cold to work on it, and those days that were nice were spent on other outdoor activities. A couple months ago, I finally made just enough room in the garage to squeeze her in, with just enough space to get around on the sides and front. I have actually started working on her again!

Re: Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

This is my '56 Napco- bought it in 2007 and it sat around and moved to several places not getting much attention until late 2017 when I finally got to start the restoration. Currently in the process of rebuilding the engine, front and rear axles at the moment.

Looks like a couple of ya already broke your streaks, which is awesome!! I know we have more members with untouched truck projects still... I can hear you lurking! Go out there, do something non-trivial to your truck, and let us know that you broke your streak!

Does getting parts count ? Or is it just doing actual work to move the project forward ?

Buying parts does not count! It might motivate you to do actual work though...

Re: Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

Ok then , the last time I did any work on my project was January 2010 .

Then it got put on the back burner as other projects came through the shop , now there’s 3 more ahead of it still . Dang it !

So that’s 11 years on hold so far , by the time it gets done I’ll have to by new tires for it again dang it .

Well all you need to do is start assembling that chassis! Get some parts put on the LS and break the streak!!

That’s all well and good, but the ‘66 Dart GT is in the shop now and needs to be assembled before I can move it .
Then the Tundra has to get on the lift so I can install the new air bags and run a dedicated battery cable to the rear for the air compressor and other accessories .
Then the Tahoe needs to be serviced .
And the SSR is way over do for service .

After all that’s done I want to bring in the ‘57 GMC and fix the brakes and service it so I can actually drive it in its stock condition while I finally bring in the rolling chassis’s and start to plumb it and figure out the engine placement and the get it mounted and wired and plumbed and fired up . At that point the drive line and exhaust can go in . The air compressor and tanks , leveling system all has to be sorted out .
Once all that is done then the cab can move from the ‘57 to the new chassis and the steering sorted out .
I’ll still have the power windows and a/c to install in the cab along with the new instruments and controls . Seat belts, 3rd brake light in the rear window just like the one I installed in the ‘56 GMC “Cameo” I sold . All this stuff may happen before the cab is moved .

Once the cab is on I want to take the partial vehicle for a test drive around the neighborhood and then install the bed and front clip .

At that point it will be all most done . It will still need the bumpers and hitch installed and anything else on the punch list .

Realistically it may be a couple of more years before the chassis gets in the shop .

Re: Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

Not sure if this qualifies for this or not. Last real work on my '57 was done back in the 2010/2011 time frame putting a firewall master cylinder and bumpers on. A couple of relocations later it is still sitting the garage. But I have been collecting parts to put on it. Last year I bought some aluminum slots and front axle assembly with disc brakes for it. Spent time cleaning up the wheels last year but that's about it due to life's happenings. Hoping to get the axle installed, all the wheels and tires swappie doodled and it fired up this spring but no progress on that yet.

Re: Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

I think I actually have just about every part and piece to put my truck together in a running and driving condition with mods that I have planned. A couple need to be reworked and the engine needs to come apart and most likely have a ring, valve, bearing and gasket job done on it. I got it because it leaked oil out of every place a 292 can possibly leak oil.

A real place to work on it has been my issue.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Well nobody appeared to perform any work on a long-sitting project after the date of this thread, so it was a dud, I suppose...

Re: Who is it going to be?? Break your streak!!

Wait a minute , I just thought of something.

I swapped the seats between the ‘57 to Tex and from Tex to the Sub and from the Sub to the ‘57 before I delivered them .
So that goes to working on the ‘57 project and it breaks the streak right .
Does that count ?
