Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
It goes on in small steps, the overhauled brake calipers set up. Completed the rear drum brake and made adjustment slots in the anchor plates, now the pads should be easier to adjust. The shock absorber mounts are off, waiting for material. Engine and gearbox separate, both need to be sealed.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
This is going to be a very nice truck when done. A lot of hard work gone into that!
Are we up to date on your progress or still playing catch up? P.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Now we are in the current time.
Finally took advantage of the beautiful weather today and made a nice trip with the Mustang, what did I miss. The bottom one is from November, that's when the Ford wasn't moved. It actually just rained or it was frozen and sprinkled with salt.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Slowly, very slowly it goes on, almost 14 days waiting for the paint to repair the frame around the shock absorber bracket. The automatic transmission has been resealed, I had to replace the shift shaft, which was destroyed.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Now the engine was resealed, the oil pan got a good silicone seal, and I was able to see what kind of engine it is, it has 4 bolt main bearings and 4" bore, block casting number is 3970010, not that bad. I guess times on a block of trucks I couldn't identify the heads, I couldn't find the number 3998981. It was repainted in gray, looks nice

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Don't think they are anything special but pretty sure it will scoot along quite nicely. Actually really like the grey.
Half tempted to throw that colour on my LS but.... Nah! Great progress as always. No sign of the ice cream yet though. This weekend?? P.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
The weather is supposed to be great.
But certainly not with the truck. And the ice cream shops are probably still closed.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
New brake lines were made and installed, now the engine and transmission could be put back in their place, the alternator and servo pump were installed, and it's slowly becoming a truck again.

So waiting in the shed is a Model A Ford to be restored. Very cool.
Your truck is looking good.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Yes, thank you, it will definitely be an exciting project, it should be in the hot rod style of the 40s, with 4 bangers, maybe even as a full fender with a slight drop in the front axle. But that will certainly take time.
I hope you're doing better and you can continue with your project, I'm crossing my fingers

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Yes, thanks for your kind words.
Fatigue is the main thing now. I don't have any pain, but just so tired all the time. A 4 banger Model A hot rod is a great way to go.

Thanks for that, I thought the same thing. A truck engine. But he ran well and stays that way for now.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Just now there is a lot of small stuff, gearbox holder a bit embellished.
I had to replace the rear universal joint, it's a 1310-1350 now the drivetrain is complete. and starting with the exhaust system, from the manifolds it goes straight to the silencers, the right side should come out to the left, it has to jump too, stop for a test first.

That's some nice work on the exhaust.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Well finally done, it took the day to get the one tube right so it doesn't make contact with the axle when it's working.
