My 1967 Build (Finally)

Hello all. I have, for a long time now, wanted to have a build worth sharing and worth creating a build thread. Now I think I have something worth sharing, or at least documenting.

So, meet my 1967 C10 I bought in Sumter, South Carolina and trailered back to Williamsburg, Virginia.

Also attached is a photo of it on the U-Haul rental, in a parking garage. Talk about worried, it was the only area available for parking when staying the night in Sumter. 3 inch clearance to the ceiling, assuming the builders actually followed guidelines when they built it.

Some better views of the outside, the patina, and the for some reason primered roof. I will more than likely wetsand the primer off and more than likely paint it an eggshell color, being it has the paint divider trim.

Some pictures of the rot, I intend on replacing inner / outer rockers and having a paint matched rattle can made up. Other than these spots and the bed floor, like normal, it seems rather good.

The core support needs removal and replacement, as they usually do, so I have ordered a new core support.

Got it home and began the total teardown, as you can see the radiator core support was so roached I just cut it down the middle and broke the mounting bolts (they were weld-fused in place) and pulled it out in two pieces to make this easier.

And here is the chassis I will be using the 67 body for. At the moment its a 5.5/7 drop with a 350 that has a mild cam and intake. Frame was coated in multiple applications of POR15. Front suspension is CPP tubular arms with a 3 inch drop spring and 2.5 inch drop spindle/disc conversion. Rear is a 5 inch drop spring, 2 inch drop block, React suspension tubular arms, CPP crossmember, CPP small notch, Ridetech sway bar set up. Driveshaft is locally made w/ 1310 joints and a LMC poly carrier. Tank is the Boyd Welding relocation kit. I will be changing from the NV3500 5 speed to either a THM350 or 700R4. Still deciding.

Not a ton of work this weekend on the truck, did some side work to save for whichever transmission I decide to go with. So I addressed some of the 67-on-a-70-frame conversion, starting with radiator support. Removed the radiator support brackets off the 67 cutting the rivets out (yay), and cleaning up and POR-15'ing. My girlfriend was there for emotional support, as you can clearly see .

And its all set. Had to clearance one mount bracket for the power steering style steering gear, and got the React crossmember all set. Time to move onto full body disassembly.

Been steadily getting this truck torn apart, by myself mainly (with the exception of my mom helping move my hood ).

Removed the old V8 and 2 speed to get on the selling block to offset some of the costs of this build.

Even mocked up a fender for some motivation on how it'll sit. Its a super rough idea but its an idea none the less.

Moving forward with the plan, Ive decided on the 700R4 four speed auto, (also known as a 4L60) - I had a rough decision between the three speed and four, but after reading more of Delmo's builds, I decided if Del runs it then theres my answer.

I ordered a Jasper unit, came with the installation kit, and best yet - they are produced/rebuilt in the USA.

Also, picked up a nice piece for myself that Ive been eyeing for a very long time, the Sniper EFI. Now I just need to figure out plumbing and such.

Been a bit of some time, but I have been working every day after work to get more and more done. So finally some nice weather came over Virginia last weekend and I got a chance to really clean out the cowl and see what Im dealing with. It was filled with debris and packed in deep. Luckily everything inside is all good and the fire wall channel is rather clean. Also removed the tin and rivet floor corner, and wow that is some serious daylight. Also found why the windshield leaked, the last guy to replace it rippled the hell out of it. Thankful it wasnt rusted away.

Installed the new Boyd fuel pump flange with the Aeromotive 340 pump and such. Boy EFI is expensive!

Got the fuel pump wiring ran down the frame.. nothing special, but look at all those grade 8 bolts!

Since Im running the exhaust literally through the frame rail I decided to use the Earl's Flame Guard to keep heat off the wiring, especially for the fuel pump.

I used POR15 gloss black. I knocked off the scale, and degreased, then did 3 coats. Super tough, and looks great. Brush application.

Not much of an update, just got the trans cooler lines set, I used The Right Stuff TTC6803, states its for a 67-72 with a TH350/400, but works fine with a little bending (expected). All fittings work, transmission adapter for the 700R4 is 800-755 by Dorman.

Got the bed placed and fitted, these tires I have now are a 235/75/15 (I think?) and look OK - I may want to go from the 28.5 tire to a 30 for a bit of some tuck.

Not a huge update from this weekend, removed cab from chassis to sell the chassis since I wont be in need of it. Kind of sketchy on your own at 10PM, but its what we do. Used some 4by4s to support the cab, propped up by some 2x4s to allow the cab mounts to rest on the wood (since the rockers and cab corners were kind of weak, didn't want to trust those to support it).
