Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

That's right with the balance, I always tell myself I'll fix it, my buddies, that would be a restoration, but it's not perfect enough for that. I want to drive and use it too. The color is great, I like it.

I think it looks great and not a color you see all the time. On an environmental note, the bee's will love it. I had a yellow panel and I noticed that.

I love bright colours on cars and trucks.

Lets call the colour Oranellow.

Or Yellange

Or Just Skinnys......

Enjoy, it looks fantastic.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

I really like the paint. It does look more orange in the last pic. I know exactly what you mean about finding a balance between perfection and drivability. That's part of the reason my build has taken so long. For not enjoying body work, you do great work.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

I am digging the color for this one. it is a shade of orange I could live with, I am not a fan of orange.

Nice work on the paint and body. The raptor liner on the insides of the fenders is a nice touch.

Rad support:

Some dark gray accent:

Also - remember pops? He had a medical issue and went to Emerg on Friday, which has now escalated to a smorgasbord of issues and he's in ICU. I'm not sure if my "suspect Asperger's" is reading the Dr. correctly, but it sounds like there is very little hope that he will be recovering.

I'm kind of escaping from this with working on the truck.

Sorry to see this about your pops. Hopefully things will settle down in his/your favor.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

I just tested positive for covid, so now I can't see him at all for at least 5 days. Probably picked it up in the ward visiting him. Not impressed.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

Since I'm off work for a bit....

The fender fill panels were seam-sealed and primed on the outside (for jambing with colour-possibly tomorrow) and bedlined on the inside. My hope is to limit the amount of crud that gets in there. I did drill a large hole in the bottom of the fender brace to help drain everything easier.

Heater assembled. Not sure I thought out the heater house routing. No, the cowl will not stay black.

It's not yellow.

Re: SkinnyG's '61 Apache

Pops is out of ICU, and in a GI ward. They say he is stable and interacting. This is a FAR cry from Tuesday where the ICU Doc had taken Mrs.Skinny and me into a calm, furnished, ambient-lit room to discuss "end-of-life" options.

Good news man! It's funny that I call my dad "pops" and everyone that hears it thinks its the oddest thing ever. I started it when I was a kid, think I picked it up from sanford & son lol
