Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
I love music videos like this. Highly trained classical musicians and singers performing a classic song from a 60's movie. My guess is they really like doing something like this ... Maybe almost fun for them? I think the Danish Symphony does a lot of music like this.
I thought this from the comments section was amusing ... There are two kinds of people in this world: those who consider this a masterpiece and those who are wrong Edit: Added more ...

Just saw a fantastic John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett show. Thought I'd post up a few Hiatt tunes.

Excuse if a repost, this is cool as heck. I haven't finished watching it, but will for sure.
I can't play the drums like him, alert the media. Wow, I'm going to work on his African technic, but I'll never come close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eaBMUyxeeo&t=1672s

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Ginger can sure play. He's a little better than I ever was, too . I was only in one garage band a short while. We were a jam band, mostly. Back then there were free outdoor concerts all over the place. Free concert meant no pay to the band....... so we managed to get hired for some and since it was free nobody complained . I was no finesse drummer, loud and strong was more like it. My big claim to fame (biggest personal goal) was to play "Fire" by Hendrix, chock full of technique. But last weekend I put Second Winter (Johnny & Edgar) in the player while working and along came "Good Love" and boy did that bring back memories of the free concerts. No so technical, but the drums were a driving force in this one. Just a li'l ole shuffle.
A couple great singer/songwriters right there. I'm a big John Hyatt fan. Have seen him play a few times. The best show was at The Lyric Theater in Baltimore.

I hope your truck doesn't take 9 months to come out!
Wichita Lineman is such a comforting song. Makes me feel good. It also represents that era well. My best friend's mom was a big Glen Campbell fan. I can remember listening to it riding along in his mom's car, a black with red interior '64 Galaxy XL500 390/4spd.

A turkey song! Interesting. I'm not familiar with them after their Top 40 hits when they wore uniforms in the '60s*. I see they dropped the "Paul Revere" in their name
* Or am I thinking Gary Puckett & The Union Gap? :confussed:

No longer November but this song fits the season. Always comes to mind when the north winds blow cold
And another touch of American folk

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Then came this Nighthawks video. That's my brother-in-law, Paul Bell who is simply a brother to me. Sigh... This great man has stage 4 cancer in his liver. He got diagnosed last Jan. It started in his stomach and his liver ended up with two tumors. Recently they got the stomach tumor out and the smaller liver one, but the bigger one is between two arteries. This sucks so bad. Paul is a guy who goes to the doctor as soon as he feels something wrong. He hasn't drank alcohol in over 30 years, very health conscious about a healthy diet, and loves to kayak or hike when he isn't on the road playing music. I didn't intend to spout this out but it just came. Anyway, here is the song. I hope his guitar playing lives forever

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Tim. being originally from Wisconsin am very familiar with this song and the tale. Have watched it many times, a very haunting and moving ballad and video. May those souls rest in peace.
Watch a fair amount of U-tube videos. Bruce Springsteen, My Home Town comes to mind, a sad tale of the decline of the United States from our days of a peak global position in the world. Am a huge fan of Credence Clearwater Revival but have a hard time watching a lot of their U-tube videos. They were SO big during Viet Nam years and being a Nam Vet just listening to their music brings back a lot of darker memories I wish I could forget. April 69 to April 70 was not a good time in my life time and experiences. Just the sound of a Huey pulling a lot of air thru the blades at max pitch and I am right back there. The songs of the era seem to remove the years and bring us back to a harsh time in the US. Watching Arlo Guthrie U-tube "City of New Orleans" and Bruce Springsteen "Your Home Town" reminds one of where and how life in the US declined from our hayday. Sad to think of it that way.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Yeah, Chris C. captured it all in that song. The somber mood conveys, the facts, the natives, the affect on the community are all well preserved.
I went through school throughout the Viet Nam war. By HS the reality I felt I was facing was first stop Viet Nam in '73. By then I was only going if drafted, I registered (as many my age did not), was classified, de-escalation had commenced, and the induction bill was voted down for the first time since it existed. So, I didn't go and while I can never say I can relate to your experience (and many guys I know), I did know a lot of how it was through vets I knew. I had a good idea of what I was looking at out ahead and it was to be my future. I know how CCR's music integrates into the war, even songs with the war topic. Those songs were more for the rest of us, I figured, and you guys were digging on Suzy Q, Proud Mary, Born On The Bayou, and the other happy everyday back home tunes. Your connection to the normal life you were missing from. Creedence Clearwater Revival was a very widely enjoyed group across many lines. Very relatable in their nature. When movies, later on, were made with Nam as the subject, CCR was a sure fit. When I, a non-serving man, hear theirs and other popular music of the era I know you guys were listening to it brings you all to my mind. Didn't go to war, but I went to work and this is the CCR song I most relate to. I hope you don't mind. Not one of their more popular tunes. I'm still singing that same tune . one of my all time favorite songs And all that has a tie to 3757 Chevy's post on Christine McVey. I was a big 'early' Fleetwood Mac fan in HS, before anyone my age knew of them. Some how, from just a "hey howya doin'" out front of a convenience store I became good friends with Butch, a long haired bearded older than me (I was 15 in '70) guy wearing an Army fatigue jacket and driving a new '69 Z/28. He was from Florida. He invited me over to the apartment where he lived with Tom & Beverly, from AR, and Seiss from the Baltimore area. Butch and I shared the love of Fleetwood Mac and much other music. I hung many hours and did many things with them. No talk about the war, but I realized they were returning vets who served together, freshly returned, just decompressing and blending back in. Christine came on during the period I hung with Butch.

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
This one is for Tony and any other drummers here. I talk about this song a lot as one of my all time drum favorites. It has never faded from that position since first hearing it. It sure will keep a drummer busy for a while!
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Fire, Mitch Mitchell drums isolated. After hearing a Jimi Hendrix song without guitar I feel like putting up some high spirited guitar playing from another trio. I like music I can relate to

A great Fleetwood Mac instrumental. three talented young guitarists in one group, with a top notch rhythm pair. It seems unique to see the rhythm section be the long tern core of the group

Here's some from Loretta. One of the giants of the music world. RIP you're missed. She passed October 4 2022 at the age of 90.
https://youtu.be/iFq6eZBS1iM https://youtu.be/8_wwP8UZR1o https://youtu.be/skacPVsLleU https://youtu.be/OEQmbKw_Qqw And her Grammy winning album with Jack White from 2005. https://youtu.be/LVCgFNXxgrE https://youtu.be/dHyHXTyIJUQ https://youtu.be/GFUwSVTFq5k I know this is a lot but with 46 albums there's a lot to hear. Not to mention the Loretta Lynn ranch and how her and her husband paved the way for many amateur motocross riders to become pros since 1982. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lore...r_Championship

I always loved Loretta's music. she was quite a gal.
Firefall came to mind today. I haven't listened to their music in a long time. Tis is music that brings back memories from the mid to late '70s
