can anyone tell me why my truck is skipping. It almost feels like dead spots, especially after I shift, it takes a second to kick in. Before I bought the truck, it was sitting for quite a while. I did replace the plugs and wires and such, but I don't understand why it's doing what it's doing. Any ideas? Thanks, I appreciate it.

My mind reading skills are just not working like it use to!

Throw folks a bone and maybe tell them a little about the truck, what motor etc.

I would start with a tune up if it has sat and some gas treatment and freash gas.

Good point, I am still kind of new at all this. And, I don't know a whole lot either, try and bear with me. It is an inline 6 250 1980 C10 long bed.

What year? It sounds like bad points if it has them. Do you know if it has points or electronic ignition? Could also be a problem with the timing advance. It will have two advances. one is mchanical and one is vacuum. The mechanicals will gum up with age and they will be slow to activate and then slow to return as RPM's drop.

If you don't know what one it is take the cap off and take a picture of it if you have a digital and one of us should be able to figure it out.

Duhh just saw where you posted the year. I would think that would be a electronic.

Yeah check the timing and also change your fuel filter.
