Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Over the years I've shed pounds of skin a shred at a time and lost a couple of pints of blood because of those gremlins. We bought one of my sons a '70 Dodge Dart that I named "Christine", because I got cut every time I worked on it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Like the movie, I guess it just didn't like me, like the guy who let cigar ashes fall on the seat when she was new, and she killed him. Though in my case, when we put new carpet in that Dart, there was a #8 paper bag with a sandwich in it that was probably put there when new, when the carpet was installed. I can only imagine what that car smelled like for awhile...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I saw a B-1 at an airshow parked on the ramp at DMAFB. The nose art was a Red Car. Her name was ''Christine.''

Sent my truck off for exhaust today. 7 years in this should be running before Thanksgiving.

Took almost a month to find a 351 Cleveland in Arizona. Finally found a wrecked '71 cougar in Phoenix that had one. But, on to trucks. When I bought my C10 the previous owner put the battery under the bed. What a pain on the B U Tocks. Dealing with some ongoing wiring issues we had crawl under the truck to drop the battery in order to disconnect it. I would NEVER recommend that placement for the battery. Since there isn't much original about this truck I elected to put a below rail bed box in the truck and move the battery inside the box. Keeping the engine bay battery free. I often drive the truck in a 100-mile radius. Super easy battery access and now have a place to keep tools and cleaning materials. Will post pictures later. |

Second time did the trick . Perfect day for it no wind , no bugs and 70degrees I painted in the screened in tent . Using the free infrared paint dryer .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Looking good! I've laid several 1-stage lacquer paint jobs on my vehicles over the years. A nice, cool desert morning with no wind is still fairly easy to come by. The energy and ambition (and single stage lacquer, for that matter!) for that has pretty much departed, though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Yup. But easy to repair the paint, too. I've bought a few gallons of GM #11 White. Common enough that it was pre-mixed, back in the day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Put the fender and cowl on today . Wish I had the hood ready but its got a little body work before it’s ready . Funny how the color changes as you walk around the truck .

''PK'' my Marine buddy who helped me rebuild my first 292 L6 back at MCAS Yuma, in the Summer of '77, used to wax poetic about the 351 Cleveland. A Ford big block underbored with small block pistons and crank. And his Dad worked for GM in Cleveland. Back in the late '90s, there was a gas station selling 105 octane on North First Ave. I put 5 gallons of that in my '71 GMC Jimmy, and proceeded to rock-and-roll. On the way to the Emissions test station, my SBC sucked valves in cylinders #6 and #7. After that I bought a Goodwrench 350 crate motor and treated it better. Except for battery acid eating the cup on the lower P/S fender tip, I can't see any advantage to relocating a battery. But I have a built 292 L6, and have extra space under the hood. Border Patrol guys have told me I have the room to smuggle 2 smallish illegals under my hood. But I don't really need extra gardeners that bad.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Welded up all the holes in the passenger fender skirt . Tried a different black for this skirt but I like the SEM Rust Shield better . I use a HF purple gun for this type of stuff.
