Re: slammed 57
without going through the whole build, do you have pics of the box before the work started? I assume (and kinda remeber pics of the truck sitting on the rockers with a step side box) it is a fleetside box now, since no rounded rails on the top plus the tubs on the outside where the step side fenders would cover the tire, but you started life out with a step side box, correct?
anyway, nice fab work through the whole build. I like how you built the frame yourself too. |

Re: slammed 57
Hey bud sorry for the delayed response. but yes its the same step side bed. i guess looking at it it can look like a fleetside bed, being that i used a fleet side wheel tubs and the angle its in the picture..... I was REAL close to going the fleet side bed. I love both looks. No need to stop the meds. I get like that as well and thats with no meds... old age is what i blame it on lol

Re: slammed 57
got color on the bed, now I just need to finish body workin the rear fenders then finish color sanding and polish the rest of the body panels and I'll be ready for final assembly... YESSSSS!
On a side note I just got back the aluminum heads and manifold from a full polish..... just waiting on the custom grind cam to wrap it up and run it on a stand! Last edited by Rickysnickers; 03-27-2023 at 09:48 AM. |

Re: slammed 57
What did you have to do to get your bedsides straight?

Re: slammed 57
well since when i welding the tubs in , it caused shrinking in that area which it needed shrinking in other areas , just decided to cut the area where they bead rolled in to give the bed sides strength and since my fire wall was smooth, I went ahead and cut those areas out and smooth the bed sides as well... Lotta work! and to think this was a brand new Mar-k bed that I cut up and went to town on lol, Glad its over!

Re: slammed 57
just as a side note, and I know there is always somebody with an idea AFTER you have the work done, you could simply make some new sides from 16 ga cold rolled sheet and have bends placed where needed at a metal shop. might even be cheaper when you factor in electricity, wear and tear (and any other excuse you need to convince the wife, haha) etc etc

They look great! Did you 16 gauge or did you go thicker?
