Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

It appears I failed to mention before the kit includes GM metric calipers from 1980s monte carlo for example, the rotor is from a 2wd pre 90s ford f150, and there is an adaptor to fit the wheel bearings to the spindle as well.

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Next up is a rear disk brake conversion on the 1977 model ford 9" that I am using. Parts i have ordered to make it happen, 1980 Ford Bronco front rotors, 1985 monte carlo brake caliper and pads, and a weld on metric GM disk brake bracket. I will also be making new 3 links as the ones that came with my axle are using tractor style Heim Joints and one recently broke when i dropped the axle.

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Attachment 2255133

Here are the parts to convert my Ford 9" to disk brakes. The conversion is simple, uses a Fullsize Bronco front rotor, metric GM caliper/pads just like the front and a weld on caliper bracket. I decoded the 9" to be from a 1977 LTD or Cougar with 2.75 gears and limited slip.

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Well i have fell behind here. I have done tons of work up to this point. It still does not drive but i did take it to a car show recently. It is currently on the back burner due to moving but i will finally have a garage with a concrete floor to work from and not in the basement with having to take out the rear end to get it out the door. It is not far from finally starting it but that will probably be a winter goal.

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Thanks for the kind words. This message board gets way more attention from the 67-72 guys, and that is exactly how i found the board. But there is not a lot of attention on the other area of this great board. I have more updates to post I just have difficulty posting pictures. they always end up upside down.

I did recently move and finally got the rat rod moved into my garage. All the work up to this point was in my old house in the basement. Name: 20230805_124750.jpg

My first real upgrade to my garage at my new home. The garage only had 2 regular light bulbs to light it up. I have been hoarding these 2x4 fluorescent lights after a a remodel at my work a few years ago. They had been upgraded to new ballast and T10 bulbs after an energy audit. I installed 7 lights in my 20x25 garage. Let the nighttime activities begin!

Post Flourescent To LED Lamps

You'll need to read the package as some are direct plug & play, others want you to remove the old ballast first .

Re: Project "Pandemic" 1927 Chevy Capitol

Ok folks here is the end of this build, I recently sold the ratrod after removing a few parts and selling them as well, with the sale I have purchased a late 1928-9 ish General Monarch Fire Truck and a 1976 4 door long bed gmc 3500 for a donor chassis 454/400 4/10 posi. Plans are to fab the firetruck onto the GMC frame after it has been bagged and have a very different bagged rat rod firetruck. Wish me luck!
