No float, no sock
Troubleshooting the gas gauge always sitting on empty, I put a camera down into the tank and found that the float was completely missing, as is the sock filter.
This is a blazer tank with a sending unit I replaced in 2008. I read a suggestion today about using a plastic float instead of the brass one. I assume I have a brass float and a sock filter bobbing around somewhere in my tank, I suppose I'll get the plastic float and try to pinch that curved part that holds it a little tighter so maybe it will hold better. Any tips on securing the sock? And I guess I should change the sending unit while I have the tank out. Plastic Float: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/o...iABEgKc7PD_BwE |

Re: No float, no sock
Even though the sender looks to be in decent condition it would probably be easier and a longer lasting repair if you get a new sender.
