Weird or what?

Just came across a 66 C10 for sale, it is a short wheel base stepside, but with an extended box. Could that be factory or dealer installed?

I never have seen one before, but I am sure some of more knowledgeable members might be able to help identify this.

It's pretty rough shape but is for sale for $2,000.

Re: Weird or what?

yeah, looks like the bed is from a different truck. Had to put it on backward so the axle would sort-of line up.
Who knows what else they did.

Bed, Cab, Frame
A lot of work, but that's part of the fun right?

Re: Weird or what?

If you would actually build a bed like that it would look like half the trucks running around now where the wheelwell starts right behind cab and then has ton of rear overhang. That or some of the foreign market trucks you see where they look close to the stateside ones but something is off.

Re: Weird or what?

That's just a regular, 8 foot step side bed sitting backwards on the truck.

The 9 foot step sides had four stake pockets on each side and was a little longer past the rear part of the fender

Re: Weird or what?

Here's a 9 foot bed that I pulled off a 65 c30 Coca Cola truck. Look at the two stake pockets on the step side fender. Also look at the distance between the rear of the fender and end of bed. Now compare with the backwards 8 foot bed on the truck. See how there's only one stake pocket over the fender? Also not as much distance between end of fender and rear of bed

Thanks for sharing photo. The real workhorses of the era, C-30 pickups had a tuff life, low production numbers and low survival rates. I spy correct original 17" wheels, great for an authentic K 20 4x4 restoration.

I pulled the bed from that truck several years ago. Only recently learned about the somewhere rarity of those wheels surviving. I wish I would have picked them up back then! I don't know how often that yard turns over its inventory, but I'll have to figure out a time to get back there. Hopefully it's still there or at least someone else was able to save the wheels too
