C10 converted to K20 sold for 40K on bringatrailer

Looks like a decent conversion. Won’t find many 4x4s with trailing arms!
He’s honest and doesn’t try to hide anything with 195 pics. Do they make a kit to add front leaves to a 2wd frame? Thought some of you might find it interesting. I know it’s not correct in a lot of ways (tailgate panel missing, etc), but a nice looking truck nonetheless
Merry Christmas!

Yes a couple of places make kits for the front conversion. I had one I picked up from board member. I dont have it any more, when I liquidated all my stuff I let it go.

Beautiful build, just not a fan of body lifts that detract from the styling of the truck with the bumper gaps.

Kind of surprised he didn't move the rear axle under the trailing arms to get the lift and make the arms more level.

First thing I would do is find another frame. The front shocks will rip out of the mounting holes soon. They do not have the upper mount tabs. Stud is going right into the frame.

Nice truck, but I would have used a proper K series frame!

Just like a 2wd. There is a factory brace that can be bolted on to remedy this

Re: C10 converted to K20 sold for 40K on bringatrailer

That truck will probably never see mud or the likes of it, but I have to wonder about the limited travel of the rear, and how it would affect traction on tough trails.
Interesting, but as said earlier, I would have sprung for a 4x4 frame.

Nice truck, the last three sold were all C to K conversions. I watched the 72 jump from $60K to $100K in 5 minutes before the auction closed. I wonder what 2024 will bring as far as prices go for 4x4's.

Re: C10 converted to K20 sold for 40K on bringatrailer

Looks like a REAL NICE truck. I don't know anything about conversions, but 40K seems like a good deal for that.

Oh I hate seeing these high end builds and they go cheap with those ugly aftermarket seatbelts.

Ord defintely makes the front spring/shackle hangers. I think diy4x does too. Nice truck. I’ll keep my real deal K’s though.

A small detail the factory deemed not necessary. Yes, it is not correct for the year. If i recall correctly. The double shear upper mount ended in 1972. later years are just studs. Only exception I recall is the additional quad shock mount available in the 80's. Additional shock mount is double shear at frame but leaves additional shock in single shear at the bottom at axle.
