Disk brake conversion
I’m wanting to do a Disc Brake conversion on my 70 C-10, but would like to maintain my stock spindles and Six Lug pattern.
Does CCP still offer a kit that will fit my Factory Spindles? If I have to, I’ll go to the new spindles, but then I’ll need to replace my tie Rod ends. |

Re: Disk brake conversion
Have you contacted CCP with your questions?? They would best know the answers.

Re: Disk brake conversion
Edited my post:
There is a kit for stock spindles. See the next post. I always use drop spindles, so I always change them out. You will need to switch to a disc brake spindle. Most all spindle companies sell a stock height or drop spindle. Make sure you get the 63-70 conversion spindles and you can use your stock1970 tie rods and ball joints. Use CPP aftermarket rotors and you will be good. To me,… this is the EASIEST way to accomplish what you want.

Re: Disk brake conversion
Here you go . Not CCP but I’ve heard nothing bad about this kit
Edit : If memory serves me I believe 70s Monty Carlo backing plates work with little modifications https://ssbc-usa.com/products/new-di...rotors-a126-71

Re: Disk brake conversion
I ordered the CCP kit for my 70 C10 disc swap. I installed the spindles, rotors, calipers months ago and just started plumbing the lines this week. As long as you have to do the spindle swap, you might as well do new tie rods and new ball joints while you have it torn apart IMO (unless you just recently replaced them).
The one issue I ran into last night was the front rubber brake lines for the discs have a 3/8-24 female connection. The new inline tube stainless steel brake line kit I bought has 7/16-24 male fittings for the front lines. I'm not sure what the stock size is on the 70 with drums up front since those are long gone and trashed in my case, just something to verify when ordering/installing. You may need some adapter fittings.

Re: Disk brake conversion
I leaning towards this kit for the 68 since the front end has been completely rebuilt with 3 inch drop springs and I’m happy with it .

Re: Disk brake conversion
I DO know CPP have kits that don't require '73-type rod ends,
Leeds makes the type with adapters for drum spindles(which they call "spindle mount" kits), but maybe only for passenger cars https://www.summitracing.com/parts/c...ckup/year/1970

Re: Disk brake conversion
I changed my 69 over to disc brakes from CCP and didnt have to change tie rods. I installed new spindles from them as well. First spindles were stock height then realizing I was an idiot for that day I ordered the drop spindles so I paid too much but did use the same tie rods on both sets.
