Any ideas what this might be??
I took apart the driver door to replace all the window trim, on my '71 GMC C1500, and found this laying in the bottom of the door. Any ideas as to what it might be?? It doesn't look like it goes anywhere inside the door and I haven't seen anything like it in the 2 or 3 door disassembly videos I've watched. It's a 1/4 inch steel rod with the 3 bends in it.

Re: Any ideas what this might be??
It appears to be the torsion bar that engages grooves in the door hinge. It's there to hold the door in the open position.. The piece fits outside the door on the hinge.. My guess is it was dropped during door installation on the assembly line.. The "line man" dropped it in the door to avoid a reprimand..

That's not quite the correct shape based on this photo. This spring was used on 1973-1987.
67-72 used this style of hinge, 2nd photo.
