what will interchange?
hey guys quick ?. i've read several threads about people swapping lots of stuff around from year to year. i read that 69-72 rears are different. what about the frames. will a 72 rear 5lug bolt up to a 70 frame and everything is kosher? also. when swapping over front disc's, basically the ball joints and outward stuff is different right? the a-arms are all the same. please shed some light on this stuff if anyone can. thanks a bunch guys.

what you have sounds right to me but i have not put a front end together yet, as for interchanging parts, i have a 67 cab and chassis with a 69 rear end a 72 bed 72 front fenders a 69 grille and the list goes on, i have parts on my truck off of all 6 years of this style and most fit with no problem, except the power steering box.

Yes, a 72 rear will bolt right into a 67-71 truck. That's how most guys, myself included, swap to 5 lug bolt patterns.
The control arms in the front basically interchange. The ball joints must match the newer spindles though. I use power steering boxes from up through 87 model trucks and through 91 model Suburbans. The Subs kept the old body style for longer than the trucks did. The later boxes used an o-ring type of seal on the power steering hoses, while the early style used a flare type of seal. It's a simple thing to convert though.

rear end will go in with no problem.a-frames are same(disc or drum)so to put disc in place of drum, all you really need is disc spindles and all the stuff that hangs on them.rotors are the same all the way up to 87,just remember they also had 2 different thickness rotors for the later years(ld/hd),which 71-2`s used thicker,or hd in case you get some from a salvage.you may also use 73-up calipers, but hose mounting on these are different from 71-2 originals,so hose`s will have to be changed to accept the calipers.then again, original calipers are still readily available at almost any parts store.hope this helps

On these interchangable parts, dose it make any difference if they are C20 or C10?. I have this 67 C20. Can I use the rear end from late 70?How about front end from late 70 or early 80?
