My truck already had 3:73's. I bought my Eaton posi from www.tomsdifferentials.com for $280.

So you can simply make your current rear end into a posi by buying the posi unit?

Like Rod said, you have to decide what gears you want/have and then buy a 3 series or 4 series.

posi's

I used to rebuild rearends on the side for a few years. Bigjimz is right. It averaged about $200 (it depends on how many of the parts are worn and need replaced......the crosspin was worn about 50% of the time, spider gears would need replaced sometimes, etc.). I would sometimes shim the clutchpacks to get back to the standard thickness, but it was a stop-gap measure. It's almost cheaper nowadays to buy new. Just my opinion.......

I have a 89k-5 blazer that I just rebuild the rearend. It has Brand new Gm posi unit and 3.73 richmond gears, I have all the reciepts. I want to get rid of the entire truck. I'll sell the entire thing for 1000.00 obo. The tranny is shot and not really sure about the motor. I have more than that in the rearend alone, if you include the install.
