Actually, when I visited Dave at Early Classic, he told me that the truck was going to be finished for this Fall. It may be finished now, but it wasn't earlier this summer.

Yeah, that Stacey is an A$$! That show is nothing more than a waste of time and energy, I am always wanting to learn and see new things, but that show gives you just a taste of what you might want and then goes to another damn commercial... what a waste!

against my better judgement i tried to watch today's show . i gave up when he took the saw out and hacked a hole for the wiring harness. maybe i,m just an idiot but if i was painting a truck with $300+ gallons of paint i'd figure out what went where B-4 the truck went to the paint shop !! he did the same type of sloppy work on that purple bronco when he whipped out a sawzall to put fenderflares on the freashly painted truck.just made me wonder at what point in this "custom" build did he realize he needed a wiring harness??

I think he just changes it as the sponsers line up. Too many bs things like you just mentioned seem to be occurring while these vehicles go back together. Kinda like the air conditioning cover he made. If that was going to be done why not just fill it in proper and smooth it out and paint instead of dime storing a cover after the trucks painted.

Don't get mad at Dean for this.......I like that show, if I knew as much about trucks as you guys do,I would not need Stacy. He actually teaches the rest of us something even if he might get a few things backwards.like welding on a painted frame,i agree that sould have been thought about before paint..But I guess he's just HUMAN. .......Longhorns wife

The show was another repete of an episode that has aired 4 or 5 times. Stacy claims that we will be "shocked" next week when he finishes it. I say, next week of What year? My wife could have finished that thing in less time than he has spent claiming it is "going to conclude next week".. If you ask me, the truck will never see the light of day and I couldnt care less. It has gone on far toooooo long.

Funny thing is that my truck has been a year so far..(no sign of it being done anytime in the near future either).I'm pretty sure none of you guys just throw out a complete truck all that fast either..hmmmm I also know copperhead ain't the only truck he is working on either..Remember how he started it too..bare cab, frame, pink slip..thats it, the rest he has done.I might not know alot but I think this would save a lot of body work...but how many times has your stuff been on back order...(I'm into month 4 waiting for my wood for my bed)......Longhorns wife

No way. Give me his shop and his budget and sponsors throwin' parts at me, and I could have it finished in a couple of months.....tops. He's been at this how long? almost 2 years? Don't get me wrong, I like watching his show when he's working on Copperhead, but he's dragged this out waaaaaaayyy too long....... Jerry

This is pure speculation but.....

I think Stacy is probably just a talking head with a minimum amount of actual mechanical skills. The show probably has an entire group of technicians to work on the truck and get everything ready for what small pieces we see on the air. Someone has already mentioned this, but what we really often need to see never gets aired. Stacy has someone telling him every move to make, so we probably do not have any idea how he actually is in real life. The show lives and dies with sponsors, so they have a big say in what ends up on the air.

Just my opinion and guessing about the show.

I met Stacey at Northwest Motor Fest 2 years ago. He seemed like a decent guy that knew his stuff. And he claimed that he did most of the work himself on these projects. He also told us that copperhead would be done that fall.

I personally think the problem with copperhead is they realized it was an insanely popular project and the network is trying to milk it for all it is worth. From things I have read, I don't think Stacey has much control of the direction of the show. He couldn't even talk them into putting the copperhead shows on DVD for us to buy.

i dont get it guys. he is the host and does do most of the work on his own. in my opinion he does damn good work. hes not the boss the producers are. i seriously doubt he makes the choices on what airs when and to call him a bumbling idiot is kinda assinine.the man has a ton of talent and can do every aspect of automotive work and do it well so to criticize him isnt right especially about stuff that the network he works for controls

cableguy0 - I think the majority of flak we're throwing out here is directed towards the shows producers. I like Stacey, (although he can come off kinda corny sometimes), but I think we all agree that the show is being dragged out way too long. ........Jerry

I saw my first show a couple of weeks ago at work (Yes, I've lived an entirely pathetic life with basic TV ). I saw a rerun from where he started at the frame. I almost crapped myself with excitement. Little did i know that it had been going on for 4+ YEARS!!! I'm a dork.
