Imperial system makes no sense at all, lol

Why not work on an exponential system with a base of ten like the Metric system? lol

Us americans find the metric alphabet to be a bit confusing.
Russ, in all reality, you are right, the metric system DOES make more sence. However, speak to anyone older than 40 and they will tell you what a PITA it is to convert. They went through it in the late 70s/early 80s I'm thinking.
We were supposed to do it in the early 80s, but president reagan kinda blew the whole thing off and no one bothered since.

How long did it take you from concept to final result, to get the metric equivilant of a 1/4 pount...just for a punch line?
But...it WAS a damn good punch line there.

I love the metric system, when I was a kid I don't know how long it took me to get my head around the fact that water didn't freeze at Zero and boil at 100 . +32? for freezing & 212 for boiling. Must have been a Brit that came up with that! Just about the time I had it figured out, Canada switched to metric. But we still use the old system sometimes, like height on drivers liscences. And most tape measures still come in feet & inches, Go figure? But for doing calculations in your head dividing by 10, or 100 sure makes things easier. Some cabinet makers I know use strictly metric. Rather than remember 5 feet 6 inches and 3 16ths , then maybe divide that by 2 it's a lot easier to remmeber 188 milimeters, and divide that by 2 , or whatever it works out to. Just my observation

Any where in Canada it's a 1/4 pounder. Also lumber (ie.2x4's are still 2x4's) and all of our conduit and pipe is in 10 foot lengths. Go figure

You forgot the ever elusic "McRoyal".

He wasn't BSing, either. I've got a menu laying around here somewhere from Bahrain with McRoyal on it, and it's plainly a 1/4lber.

What gets me is the Imperial system, invented by the brits, and they don't even use it anymore!!!! Communism, says I!!.

If you're an engineer you have to know both, and be able to convert between them in your head, which is completely pointless IMO.

Here's another one. How many cups in a pint? How many tablespoons in a cup?

Try a program called convert

Does a number of converting features plus you can add ones that aren't there...
