Thanks everyone. Lots of sweat a little time, and even less money has been spent on this.
it'll be on the road soon. I took it for a spin today. Still needs tuned, fresh fuel....little picking here and there..but I did do a short 15 footer...I think this sucker may have a locker in it! |

this is sooooo cool. I love to see progress. what kind of pipes you got in mind for the 425? I think some 2 1/2s with shorty glasspacks would be just about right.

Actually, I m sick of my rides being too loud. I want something that idles pretty much quiet, and has a mellow rumble when I crack open the secondaries.
In all reality though, I'll have to see what I can do. Fine69 was talking about a buddy of his that does up pipes...so i'll have to talk to this cat and see what he has. |

in that case I may suggest some magnaflows in a 2 inch variety. I have been told they are just as you stated. I am just like you, I like to ride in peace & quiet sometimes. that is when I take the wifes Lesabre with the 6 disc changer. most of my wheel time is spent in Lefty with no radio & my previously mentioned loud pipes.

grrrr....I knew that was coming.
It's not so much that... (I'm only 30) I've been around loud heavy equipment all my adult life, and I have a 30% hearing loss in one year, and 20% in the other. When ever i would take my GMC on a trip of more than 45 min or so, i would have a headache and my ears would be numb. When i drove it to Kalamazoo a couple years ago, i forgot my earplugs and it was 2 hrs before I stopped yelling. I could hardly hear myself talk so i spoke up. Besides, I learned something in this POS Town Car i drive now. I can fly by a cop doing 60 on the surface streets, and not be seen! This sucker is ticket proof! (knock on woodgrain) I figure most of it is due to the lack of bright colors, flashy rims, and quiet pipes. |

So do you super cop quite (cadillac) mufflers? Or just something to tame it down a lot? With my new mufflers I think my truck is a ton more quite, still has some bass to it somewhat but its pretty quite for headers 10:1 compression 204-214 "RV" cam. I have catalytic convertors so that is also helping in the calming the noise. I can send you my clip or make some new ones if you want. I need to get my exhaust seems cleaned up and welded back a little better. They leak but can barely tell until you look at the joints.

Mike doesn't come around here as much as he used to, if he doesn't say anything on this thread...I'll find out when I go there next, which should be in the next few weeks. I'll be getting my cab out of there.

noooooooo.
The red 69 GMC SWB with the green front end is my old truck, the one I painted in black primer and sold to CEVYE, and the one ton, the gold one...those two are mine. The maroon C/10 LWB towing the @ wheel drive blazer belongs to Paul...chevy fat guy....he doesn't come by here much anymore...dam good guy. The 71 (or 72?) burb currently belongs to Tom...cheesewagon...but it is being sold to another board member here shortly...in the same condition as my SWB was when it was sold....pretty much dead needing an engine. In case I haven't seen you alsewhere and said it already...welcome to the board truckguy. The get together we had in that pic was more of a meeting place to swap some parts when Paul hauled some A/C parts when he picked up the blazer....Tom picked up the parts and ran them to yet another member so Paul wouldn't have to go further out of his way. Even thoguh it was just a meet up for parts, we all hung out for a few hrs, compaired our junk, ragged on each other, and pretty much had a good time. If you ever get a chance to go to a board meet in your area...try to go, every single one I've been to has been pretty much awsome. (4 including the one pictured) |
