Yah I would have to agree that even up here in rustville there are better doors then that to start with. Are you putting all new bottoms on them from donor doors or repairing the holes another way? I was surprised that Texas is alot rustier then I thought it would be.
Anyways keep us updated. |

Heres one I recently replaced. I'll hang onto it for now. Maybe use it for some welding practice. It still works like a door anyway.
But I don't think I'll toss it, they are getting hard to find in this area. I had to sort thru 8 sets before I found better ones and THEY needed a bit of work. Sorry, about the first one, shadows.

I'm pretty close to the Gulf of Mexico so we do get alot of salt and this truck may not have been taken care of after going to the beach.... I was going to fiberglass the bottoms... but I have changed my mind. I will now pursue better replacement shells for my 71. and then try my hand at repairing these with door bottoms for my 68

Ditto! I bought the '72 GMC from a little town south of Corpus, about ten miles from the water and it was a rust bucket!

Well I was just comparing it to what I deal with up here. We have winter 7 months of the year so you could literally have a chunk of 7 month old snow riding around stuck to your truck until it melts in the spring. Plus all the sand and salt that they throw on the streets. From what I saw while driving across the northern tip was almost comparable to the rust that we get here.
