Dropped Spindles...(best and most economical)

i was wondering what the best and most economical dropped spindle was. i need to get mine quick, ive got the sd plate and cup set on the way and i need to get the front of my cc dually on the ground and half ton. let me know. also whats with the two different spindles from jeg's one is for 1.25" thick rotors and the other is for 1" thick rotors. im going to be purchasing brand new rotors for my half ton conversion so do i need to get these first? and then measure the rotors before i order the spindles?

You'll need to have matching calipers, bearings and rotors for which ever thickness of spindle you wind up using.

For 73-87 trucks, BellTech makes a hell of a 3 inch drop spindle. I have them under my Blazer. BellTech has been around a long time and their quality is second to none.

You can order them from Summit and get free shipping too. Believe me, those spindles are heavy and you don't want to pay UPS charges getting them shipped to you. That's something to keep in mind if some other place has a bit cheaper price, but makes you pay for shipping.

Also, look around and get prices on DJM spindles for 73-87 trucks. They are a 3" drop as well and are quality pieces.

cool thanx for the info...so then ill have to get the calipers, rotors, wheel bearings, and spindles to all be either the 1" thick or the 1.25" thick...right?

well i just ordered the djm 3" dropped spindles from summit...$245 total shipped to my house. ill be hittin the junkyard this week for calipers and upper and lower control arms! i got the 1.25" thick ones by the way.

Calipers will be about 15 bucks each at the parts store for rebuilt ones. For me, that's too cheap to bother with junkyard ones.

o really..i was at the junkyard today and was looking at some of the stuff they got and needless to say i was not to enthuised about that stuff especially if i can get new or reman stuff from a parts store. thanx for the info. control arms on the other hand are way too expensive to get from a place like lmc or tubular ones..imo. the rotors are $43 each at autozone. anyone experienced problems with the quality of these from an autozone, pepboys, or checker?

I would recommend GM or performance aftermarket rotors. I have installed Kragen rotors and they warp quickly. Check out www.StainlessSteelBrakes.com and www.PowerSlot.com for new rotors and all other braking system needs.

yeah...i just told all of the parts places that the parts i needed were off of an 87 1/2 ton 2WD w/ the 454 and they all work.
