With Jb1, Jb3 Brake System Or Without!?

i was looking for brake parts for my half ton conversion and this question came up. what is the difference and what would be best since i have the oppertunity to choose?

Ok, I'll bite. What are Jb1, Jb3? Are you referring to standard brakes and HD brakes? Is that the option codes for 1" and 1.25" brakes. Help me out here....

That might help some...

I believe it differentiates between heavy duty or not, and power brakes or not. I also have been told that regular and heavy duty brakes take different spindles, so that may help you decide if you already have spindles on hand.

That's what I thought, but was too lazy to look it up. Yes, the HD brakes requires different spindles, and calipers.

slammd72 if you are buying everything new any way, I would consider using the HD spindles, and buy larger calipers and rotors from SSBC, Wilwood or Baer. I would do a disc brake conversion on the rear while I was at it....

Not to be confusing, but my truck lists the heavy duty power brakes as J55 on my build sheet...

I agree, if you are going for new stuff anyway, get the HD 1.25" thick rotors (instead of the 1" thick) and the compatible spindles.

well i guess from some stroke of accidental genius i have bought the HD set up. i got the 3" dropped spindles (for the 1.25" rotor because bigger is better!!) by DJM from Summit. they got here a couple of days ago. i just got back from pep boys with the rotors, wheel bearings and the spindle nut kit. but heres what was weird. they had both of the rotors, (1" & 1.25" thick) so i just had the guy pull them both out and measured. easy enough...right? no way. then the wheel bearings. the wheel bearings that ended up working were for a 88 C2500 . but at least i have them now so that i can concentrate on all the other stuff. i.e complete upper and lower control arms, new ball joints, new bushings, calipers, dust sheilds?, rotor dust caps, shocks, and the caliper and dust shield mounting hardwear! but at least when this part is done ill have all 1/2 ton front suspension, be bagged, and refreshed suspension . ill post some pictures as soon as i start tearin in to it. thanx for the info.
