Get a test light and turn the headlight switch on and see if you're getting power to the headlight wiring connectors. If not, check the fuse on the fuse panel. If those aren't the problem then you're switch might be bad. Do your instrument panel lights come on?

Check to see if you are getting power to dimmer.

Sounds like your bulkhead connector has a mind of it's own. The dimmer switch gets the headlight power from the headlight switch on a light blue wire. From the dimmer switch there are two wires that goes to the bulkhead connector. The light green wire is the bright light wire and that wire also goes back to the intrument guage cluster to light the bright light indicator. so you have power going to one side of the bulkhead connector. The other wire is labeled 1st, so it's anybody's guess what color that wire is, but you get the drift. Both the light green wire and the other wire 1st goes to the headlamp sockets. Very doubtful that both headlamp sockets have lost a ground on both plugs so that is on the back burner to check for grounds. Probe the engine side of the bulkhead connector with a test light going to the light green wire with the bright light indicator on. You should have 12 volts on the engine compartment side. YOu should be able to take it from that point. Have fun under there with them spiders.
