wrecked my truck tonight

started slidding on the road and i ran up on a curb.

i was sideways and hit it head on so that i wouldnt bend a rim.
i cracked my airdam pretty bad and my alignment is a little off(steering wheel is crooked)

after that i got stuck trying to get up a hill, my dad had to come and help get it halfway in the grass so that 1 tire would get some traction.

if you live in okc area, dont drive!!

i was stuck for 30 minutes trying to get up that hill. just kept spinning the tires.

what was really funny is that when i left to go home, i put it in drive and as soon as i took my foot off the brake, the tires spun

IF you wanted too--at least you wouldn't have to wait on someone to get you on to grass for traction

maybe you just need to learn to drive.. drove the wifes Maxima all day today and never had a problem. truck was frozen shut. Had to kick the button just so i could push it, then kick it to break the ice and yank 3 or 4 times to get it open.. so i could get my gloves.. maybe you should have kept that geo after all..

Sounds like daily driving here

More gas = no go up here, you give just enough gas to get going, and thats it :p

At least the damage wasn't more severe, I was expecting to see your truck as a big mess when I first saw the title!

If you get in a situation like that, I put the park brake part way down, and give it gas, the brake holds the rear end from spinning freely while still applying torque to the ground, it'll get you out of any little icy patches like that :p Other option is to back up, and get a good run at whatever you are stuck on :p Option two makes more noise and tiresmoke, but you are much more likley to get stuck, lol

its about like that here, over 60,000 homes and businesses in wichita are without power from a wicked ice storm. It rained all day long Tuesday, then froze over night, then snowed about an inch or two over it.

Chains are really the only answer, other than staying put if it's that icy and you don't have them. A few years ago I was puttering along on a fairly icy day, but the road was sanded, and then I hit the place where the sand truck ran out. 4X4, snow tires, makes not a whit of difference on serious ice. I managed to get a slight grip on the ditch side of the road and creep to a place I could stop. Waited a while for the sand truck to come back and finish (never saw it), took another stab at getting back up the tiny hill to where the sand was on the road, did a slow motion 360 in a 20 foot long truck. Eventually pulled out a hammer and broke a track through the (1/2" or so) ice for one side of the truck to ride in (dirt road). Got back onto the sanded road and vowed never to make that mistake again. Studs probably would have helped, but studs have considerable downsides on a dry road. Chains you put on when you need them, and take off when you don't.

Time for sandbags and winter tires.

I don't think you can use chains on low-profile tires, and even if you could, I wouldn't.

no fun, it's pretty bad here in NH, and we haven't seen the ice part of the storm yet. I would say we've gotten close to six inches so far, which isn't a lot here, but they just can't seem to keep up with it because it's coming down so fast. Once the ice hits, we're in trouble. That's also when the trees (and power lines) come down. Chains sound like a great idea. Take care everybody!!
