Question ?High Humps? Tanny cover

Ok i'm looking at my tranny cover and it seem to have this small "pen tip" size punches in it. IS this a factory thing........it look like to me cause they seem to sit straight with each other. I'll drop some pictures.

I'm almost certain its factory and I beleive they mark spots used to cutout for floor shifter locations.
