Rear ratio opinions

I'm about to replace the 250 in my '68 Shortstep with a stock 350 and a 350 TH. I will be running 235/75/15 tires (28.8" diameter). I would like to hear opinions as to a good all around rear ratio to use--not going drag racing, just want good performance and decent gas mileage. The truck presently has a 3:73 rear and the computer program says I'll be running 3045 rpm @ 70 mph with it.
Whaddya think?

good performance and decent gas mileage are mutually exclusive.... can't have both. If you'll be on the hiway much, switch to the 3.07 gear.... I think you can also get a 3.42.

Other alternative is to keep the 3.73 and install a 700r4 trans... good luck...
