moving!!!
well for starters i know i dont post much, but just want to let every one know that the wife and son and i are planning on moving up to minnesota from tennessee, i would love to drive my truck up but i have to haul it due to the borke frame, it will get fixed after we get up there,, we are heading out on friday, we are all looking forward to the move and cant wait now, , as soon as we get there im gonna pull the moter and rebuild it, and then start workin on the frame and get it fixed for the time being, ill post more as i go with the trunk and will have post pics of the progress on it, , but i do have a question about the truck, what kind of welder is best to weld with on our trucks? while i have the cab off im plannin on redoing alot on it to get it back up to shape, and also with being a beginner at welding what all advice can yall give me on welding? thanks in advance for the tips,,,,,,,mark

A good MIG welder will do anything you'll ever want to weld on one of these old trucks.
By the way, you do know that Minnesota is up north don't you? It's freakin cold up there and they get snow. Plus, all the good trucks are rotted away too.

I remember playin in it. It WAS fun. I remember the hours my step-dad made me shovel the walk and driveway. Nope. Will never live where it snows. Hope your move goes smoothly.

forget the shovel!!!, get a snow blower!!! dont forget the parka & Red Green style hat. I think they are required for anyone in northern MN. LOL, JK
I personally like the wind & blowing snow we get here. you know, the kind of weather where you are even willing to cuddle up with the mother in law just to stay warm. it makes you appreciate the summer just that much more.

Nothing against the north, but I just could't live in a place that it is possible that your eyeballs could freeze over.

Gotta love it here... Spend all summer wishing for cooler weather, and all winter wishing for warmer weather.

Thats the beauty of it. No big malls, tourist traps and other such distractions.. Plenty of time to do my own thing. (Although I do wish Cabelas and Menards were closer.) |

I live in the great state of MN, just south of the cities. We just got our first real snow fall of the season 7" total today. It has been a bad winter for those of us who make money off the snow.

Weather around here is rough enough for me.A couple of days of cold, and then back to the shirt sleeves.I can't imagine living in a deep freeze, and no you don't get used to it.

You ain't kidding it's cold here. I think this may be my first and last winter in the north (I hope). We had 25" of snow so far this winter, and getting "snow storm Eric" coming through right now (another 5"-8"). I actually don't mind the snow as much anymore, usually means it's warmed up above below zero. I called a buddy in Memphis today, and he was working outside in short sleeve shirt... and was breaking a sweat. Too me... I think I'd rather sweat than pile on winter cloths and still be cold!

Congrats on deciding to move back!!! You just missed some real fun weather - below 0 (F) for about 4 days straight. We're in a heat wave now, supposed to get to 17 F today (St. Cloud area), but 25-35 mph winds to blow all the snow around. Finally getting back to a normal winter (once it decided to show up!)
Good luck on the move! Paul

Welcome back
I live just out of Duluth in Twig. It's been a hard January here, either snowing heavy or below zero. Last Tuesday it was -45 at my house, my jumper cables (cheap ones) broke in half trying to unfold them. I needed a good set anyhow. My buddy said he's going to strap a snow shovel to his car and start driving south until somebody asks him "what the hell is that?" and thats where he's going to live.
