SS truck?

Did chevy ever make a SS 72 truck? My friend says he inherited a 72 SS truck! I await to see it! I am thinking he has not seen it either. It is probably an el camino

Never seen or heard of a factory SS 72 truck. It may be something a dealer put together back then though as a sales gimmick though.

I've never seen any official info on them from the factory, but I do remember a Chevy ad floating around with a 67-72 truck with the phantom headlights towing a 67-69 camaro, maybe it was a concept or just a sales gimmick.

Definitely not at truck, but maybe an El Camino if you call that a truck. That could have been an SS.

Someone posted that ad on here a while back. Maybe it will resurface. Most of the popular opinion has it that there never was an SS truck unless some PO created a clone and passed it off on some hapless, unsuspecting buyer.

This was posted on the board awhile back. Obviously somebody's own creation but looks kind of neat.

That is what I was thinking of doing at onw time 70C10, but I couldn't find a picture of one. That looks really good! I was thinking about doing it to my 72 LWB. I'll likely go orange with black stripes, but that does give me some idea. Wow! That looks great!

I am going to call him today and see if i can go look at it! I gave him the cab, frame, bed from my 72 a month or so. He said it was ironic that he inherited this other truck just in the last couple of days! He saw the 72 lwb in last months cover of classic trucks and now he has got the fever to build one of these trucks now.

Some corvette rallys like what TJ has on his short/step would make that truck look even more real.

I too have heard of SS trucks, however, no one has ever been able to document or prove anything.

it was a concept truck. I have the ad around here somewhere...

Here's a concept of my version of it, if I ever finish.

There were quite a few El Camino SS's. I had an '81 model. The only thing that made it an SS was a front air dam, ralley wheels, and an SS decal.....and since I hauled my motorcycles in the back and the Texas license plate said "Texas Truck" on it, I'd say it's a truck.
