need some help???

I got pulled over today by our state troopers. they said i needed mudflaps and fender flares. the mudflaps dont bother me, but the fender flares kill me. does anyone make a good looking flare for our trucks. they dont have to be much, my tires stick out 3 1/4". they cant stick out more than 3". so they dont have to be much, just something that doesnt look like SH#T. some help or some pics would be helpful.
Thanks Dwayne

Bushwacker flares maybe? You might try coloradoK5.com site for some leads too.

Dwayne,

Try checking Utah's laws on that kind of stuff. State Troopers don't always know what they are talking about when it comes to that kind of stuff. Just fully check before you spend a bunch of money on something you might not need.

I agree with yellow69...Check the laws for your self first. I would hate to see you put flares on there and you don't really have to. If you do have to I would rather go to a smaller wheel/tire combo before putting flares on. Do you have room to run more back spacing on your wheels?? Like you said it is only a 1/4 inch. Just my .02, hope you get something figured out.

From the Utah safety inspection manual
Fender flares or fender extenders are required to cover both front
and rear tires when wheel track extends beyond the vehicle body.
Looks like the cop is correct this time
Here's the site for the safety inspection requirements

I would look into a set of wheels with a deeper backspacing if possible.I hate the look of flares.

intsead of fender flares, you can get those mud flaps that go on the inside of the innerfender and go all the way around the the wheel well, and you dont screw them to the outer fender and the cover the wheels

You could just move to Alabama & forget all of it! If it has 4 wheels (the 4th doesn't have to be on the ground, it can be in the trunk if so desired), you can drive it.

flares

the law states that if a tire sticks out more than 3" then a flare is needed. i may just take some rubber and run around the inside of my wheel well, get ticket signed off then take them off. the big thing around here is the mud flaps. i think if i put the mud flaps on then they wont bother me. i can live with the flaps, not the flares...LOL
