from what i have read on the various other threads in the past week............. yes
you will have to make brackets to hold the coil springs but otherwise it should be fairly easy all be it time consuming. ondrew |

Yes,
It's not hard as long as you have the tools, or have a friend that does. You will need to find Trailing arms, The brackets that go on the Crossmember that the Trailing arms mount in, Then you will need the Panhard bar. Truck height will depend whether you use the stock one or have to buy a Adjustable one.., Coil mounting pads from a donor, and the "U" bolts that hold the trailing arms to the rear end housing..You will have to do some fabrication on the rear end housing.. I Forgot you'll need springs also !!!! You can buy all of this stuff new, Or find a Donor in a wrecking yard with Good condition "non rusty" parts.. This is a changeover I will also be doing sometime in the future.. How far in the future is the question...... This is a great changeover, The trailing arm suspension is the same thing Nascar vehicles use, and the ride is smoother.. Last edited by RON WOODGEARD; 01-27-2005 at 09:48 PM. |

duke68ss,
why do you want to go to coils, if you plan on doing any hauling leafsprings will haul more weight. if weight isn't the issue, and say traction is. I wouldn't waste the time putting in stock coils, I'd go for a four link and coil over shocks it's alittle more involved and cost alittle more but, well worth it. If you do stock stuff it isn't to hard alittle time consuming just make sure you have a good donor to get all brackets, drag links, spring purchases, and mounts from.as well as a cuting torch and a welder. |

you can buy the new crossmember with the brackets for the trailing arms on them allready.you have to redo your brake lines, they come off the frame at the crossmember, panhard bar mounts on the frame and the rearend housing.you'll need to redo the spring perches, they set at an angle that matches the trailing arms. also the perches have holes in them for a single u-bolt. you'll need the attachment pad for both the trailing arms and the frame. hope this helps.
