Front Spring Replacement
Is there enough room to remove a front spring by separating the upper ball joint, or do you have to take off the u-bolts that hold the a-arm on?
I know this has been discussed several times, but I don't remember. It looks like the brake hose will keep the arm from dropping enough to get the spring out. Thanks

sure is, support the bottom a-arm and loosen the top ball joint bolt but don't take off the nut untill you seperate the ball joint from the spindle. then just take off the nut and lower the bottom a_arm.

Well, my brake hose is definitely keeping it from dropping far enough to get the spring out. I have a spring compressor, but it
won't even compress it enough to come out. I guess I'll have to take the a-arm loose at the frame, or try the lower ball joint. I don't want to take my brake line loose.

Taking the brake line loose is alot easier than dropping the entire A-arm, even though you have to bleed the front brakes afterward.

I figure I'll just replace them, since I have them off. I have 3 different parts stores right next to each other, and nobody carries them. Napa can at least order them, but Autozone and O'Reilly can't even get them. Bummer.
