one of the last pieces i need for now is tranny lines. what do i do for them?parts stores dont seem to have them.

And if the board vendors don't have them, contact www.inlinetube.com , they have prebent stainless steel transmission lines available with OEM plated fittings or stainless steel fittings. I used their brake lines w/stainless fittings for my 91 and they were dead on and worth every penny...

I've used the fuel line tubing and bent them myself....not that hard to make with a tubing bender.

i have access to a tubing bender and double flare set at school. but i dont know how to map out exactly what i need

Get some heavy gauge wire and mock it up the way you want it.

I used 2 6ft metal lines from an auto parts store and bent them using wire as a template. At the front of the truck I cut the flared ends off and ran rubber hose to trans cooler. Since mine was converted from a manual to auto trans the radiator isn't setup with an integrated cooler so I ran a seperate external type.

Inline tube is a good source. I went to them for my cooling lines for my turbo 400. Go to their site for pricing.

The only thing I found difficult was the lines wouldn't fit the clips that went under the oil pan bolts. I also had to figure out which one went on top and which one went on bottom. Getting them to line up with the transmission meant tweaking them a bit, and I couldn't use the clips that keep them together...it may mean making your own may be a better option if you want them to fit and look perfect, but it takes practice.

Most tranny coolers are before the rad. Like trans to trans cooler to rad to trans. You can actually cool the trans fluid to much and cause problems so they want it through the rad last so it will keep it at least 180*.

Being that your location is PA you would want to run the fluid from the tranny (hot) to the external cooler (cold) to the tank in the radiator (warm) then back to the transmission like dwaite72lnghrn said. You don't want it too cold.

I bought the in-line tubes pre-bent from LMC or some other supplier. It was well worth the money. They sell you perfectly bent pieces for not much more than what you would spend on two straight pieces that you would then have to mess with.

Then when you get your nice new lines all hooked up you have to cut one at the radiator for the external cooler.

When I first plumbed in my external cooler I used the rubber hose that was supplied in the box with the cooler. One or two months later my boat and I were on the side of the road with a burst hose waiting for my wife to come and rescue me. After that road side repair I bought more solid line and bent it to go under the core support to and from the engine compartment. Now I have just 4 three or so inch splices of rubber hose. And a hunk of that size hose in the tool box next to a quart of tranny fluid.

I used hoses from Aeroquip on my trans cooler. They have fittings on all the ends. I didn't want any push on hoses leaking. The Aeroquip hoses are used on race cars, etc. You can find them at any speed shop, summit, etc

I would have just made new steel lines if I wasn't using the cooler.

I didn't go thru the radiatior with mine since I don't use it in any cold weather.

You can get fittings with a barbed end that will fit the trans line. If you want to run rubber line to the cooler You can do it without cutting the steel line.

YOU CAN JUST USE 3/8" STEEL BRAKE TUBING. IT'S AVAILABLE IN VARIOS LENGTHS & IS SIMPLE TO BEND USING A TUBING BENDER OR JUST BENT AROUND A COKE BOTTLE. MAKE SURE THAT FOR ANY RUBBER HOSES YOU USE TRANSMISSION HOSE (FUEL LINE WONT HOLD UP). I LIKE TO RUN IT FROM THE TRANNY TO THE COOLER TO THE RADIATOR & BACK TO THE RADIATOR. I ALSO LIKE TO DOUBLE CLAMP EVERY FITTING THAT DOESN'T HAVE A BARB.
