Question about interchanging cabs

If I have a 72 Chevy rusty non a/c cab and wanted to install a nice a/c cab, does it have to be a 72? What years interchange? I know there is a slight differences in doors between 72 and the others. Would 68 fenders bolt onto any year cab? Thanks in advance. Greg

The cabs interchange freely. Fenders bolt to any cab.

The 67 and 68 trucks had a pull type of park brake rather than a pedal type. Also, a majority of 67's had small back windows.

Where the fuse block mounts to the firewall is slightly different between the early and later cabs.

Pre 72 cabs have holes to mount rearview mirror. 72 cabs had a mirror glued to the windshield.
