Auto trans linkage question

Hi all, finally getting to the point of possibly getting to drive the truck here very soon and a few odds and ends are slowing me down. One is the auto trans column linkage, here are the parts I have so far. Note: the truck was origionally a 3 speed on the column, but since converted to auto on the column.

I have, the long rod that connects to the lower bracket
the pivot bracket
Frame bracket

I need the trans bracket and one piece I think is missing from the column. What is this peice? I have an idea what it is, but not sure and not sure where to find it either. I know thats vague but it looks to be a peg that slides into the rubber o ring on the column and bolts to the rod somehow.

Any help or pics would be very helpful

Is this what your talking about ...lets call it a "slip style pivot pin shifter linkage fastener assembly".

I didn't have an exact pic but its close, but even this one is mising a few little pieces. Although this shows more of a lower linkage attchment..its similar to the upper one that is attached to the column shifter hole. Might help someone understand what he wants.

I switched from 3 on the tree to auto too. I got all the parts I used off a few mid 70's trucks/ Subs at an auto wrecker. I'd go to a wrecking yard and look around for the parts you need. ( many of which will fit in your pocket)

Rod, that's the piece exactly. Great discription as well, I was thinking of the same thing I will have to take a look at the local wrecking yard, it will fit in my pocket no problem, as purple gas suggested

Thanks so much for the pic, now I know what to look for. Any column shifted trucks from 67-87 will work?

I've gotten that piece of of many different GM vehicles all the way up through the 90's. But, if memory serves me correctly, your factory 3 speed column shift linkage will have two of them you can remove and use on the new auto shift rod and not need to go to the junkyard and steal anything.

Gee TX. I wasn't saying he should "steal" anything. Iwas just saying the part would fit in his pocket so his hands would be free to hold tools & stuff, and not get lost. As for not needing to go to a junk yard. Going Junkyardin' is one of the best reasons to work on an old truck. I'ts a place of inspiration for me. In fact I think I saw the likeness of the Virgin Mary in a puddle of ATF one time. Although my buddie thought it looked more like Paris Hilton doing something a little less Godly.

Thats a fairly often overlooked piece to grab until you realize.."gee I needed that piece didnt I".

There are some washers too to look for on these pins....but there pretty common on most vehicles in the 60' to 80's scrap yards...look at the linkage most are often there. I even have a few spares here, but it's probably a simple thing to find in your parts.

Thank you Rod very much, I will take a look at my local yards to see what I can find. I also need the trans selector bracket, but might have to buy that one new.
