Flexplate questions

This is for a 350 2 piece ream seal. How much does a 168 tooth flexplate go for? Also are there supposed to be any weights on it?

Thanks

just went out and looked at 2 different flexplates , neither of them has weights. i think all the balancing on that end is on the torque converter

I believe the ones that have weights on them are usually from engines that have been balanced at the machine shop. Most high performance engines have all of the parts balanced before assembly, and then get balanced again after assembly.

Flexplates For Externally Balanced Engines (like The 400 Small Block Or A 454 Big Block) Have Weights On Them. You Can Pick Up Flexplates For A 350 Cheap (like $20-$25) At Most Any Chain Auto Parts Store, But Inspect The Weld, Where The Ring Gear Is Welded To The Body Of The Flexplate. John

I got mine from the junkyard for free. Just cleaned off the surface rust and painted it black. And no I didn't steal it.
