Unhappy Hey Gee_Emm what's it gonna take?

What parts from trucks can I use to repair my blazer? If I can use the cab of a truck minus the roof and back it will make my life MUCH easier! What about using patch panels for the sides out of fleetside bed parts?

First round of many questions.

List what needs repairing.

You can't use a a truck windshield as a "whole" piece to replace a blazer windshield. Cause blazers have a brace in them.

I think I can salvage the glove box door and the bed floor. Everything else is questionable.

I have cut up a couple Blazer windsheild frames and I have not seen any additional bracing what so ever. Just to give you an idea on how much is interchangable on my Jimmy the only parts that will be Jimmy/Blazer parts will be the bedsides, the inner top rail of the windshield frame and the first 6 inches on the front of the bed floor. The rest of the sheetmetal on the truck is from a half ton. You can use short box bedsides as a complete replacement but you will have to use some of the inner structure at the front from a Blazer bedside. Bedside patchpanels are the same as any other bed.


Best thing you can do is check out my progress thread, I will be updating it soon and there are some pictures that are not there so if you need clarification on a paticular area I more then likely have a picture of it. Some of my progress I described isnt very clear either, I was intially planning on repairing the cab, welding a new WS frame on but in the thread I didnt really explain that, I jumped right to it.

Windshield Frame

The only difference I've seen is the top of the frame and how it accepts the hard top.
Gee, are you keeping the truck windshield frame intact and working from there?

The WS frame was left as seen in the pictures above with the exception of a little bit of trimming and the addition of the inner top rail piece. Shown below is the cab trimmed up almost completely to accept the top inner rail.

Krue, you will need to find the inner top rail(see pic below)which might be tough because that is the part the rusts first or fix the one that you have already, you just have to drill out the spot welds to get it off.

Doesn't look like the same piece. That looks like the patch panel for a truck roof. The piece for the blazer is actually the piece the top seals to. Thanks for the heads up anyways.
