Going w/TBI: where to put O2 sensor bungs?
My exhaust looks like rusted lace...mighty full of holes and in need of replacement.
Since I need O2 sensors for a TBI system (www.affordable-efi.com) does anyone know where to put them? I'm thinking right in the collector. Do they point up, down, sideways, does it matter? Thanks for the help!

Those sensors should be put within several inches of the collector. Some have drilled and tapped the manifold, but failure with cracks and leaks are common. They should be pointed in such a way that you will be able to get a wrench on them to get them out fairly easy. Sounds like a cool project, I almost went with a 350 TPI set-up on ol'Reb (71 GMC 4X4), but decided to sell everything instead.

I read somewhere that O2 sensors must be mounted with the sensor end pointing down or above sideways to keep from ruining the sensor early. I think because, if the sensor is mounted pointing up, more exhaust crud will settle on the tip due to gravity. Haven't had a chance to verify this. Maybe muffler shops know this. Or EFI sources, like the one you linked.
