I guess they will come around to my way of thinking when I have the last known 72 Chevy one ton 9 foot long step side truck in existance. Then I can set my own price

1542 ever built, I documented 2 as crushed. No telling how many were colored and optioned just like mine... it may already be a 1 of 1.

Mangled the grill!!!! and lost two of the headlights. That would make it a Chevy? At least any good writer of a magazine article would make sure he had a truck that at least looked like a GMC was pictured in it! Personally I would be embarrassed to put my name on the article! Even thou it is a great thing they are recognizing our style trucks.

Personally I like the 9 footers. There is one here by my house just sitting there rotting away. I have been trying to buy it for years but the guy will not sell. It is a 1967 and not in too bad of shape from what I can tell, other than the fact that is sunk down to the rocker in the mud. I am sure it has to be quit rare. Wish I could get him to sell it!

Publications are in the business to make money. How do they do that? By selling advertising space, not by selling subscriptions, albiet circulation does factor into what they can charge for advertising rates. It does not pay for the so-called "experts" to tout anything but highly modified vehicles for which there is a wide aftermarket (read advertising) appeal. I gave up on all truck mags 3 years ago, because of their one-sided slant.

I do have this theory however, once the 67-72 craze is over, the cream once again will rise to the top. To use a Rock and Roll analogy, remember the Boy Bands? Maybe...but do you listen to them? Probably not. What about Lynyrd Skynyrd? Hell ya! Hang onto those 9 foot and LWB stepsides, one ton flatbeds, assorted clapped out workhorses, and other red-haired stepchild "bastards" of the truck world, for they shall inherit the earth.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
