Hi all, I was thinking of going with a 4/6 drop on a '91 c-10, and was wondering if anyone knew why a different part number is listed for 88-91 spindles and 92-98 spindles? If the brakes on the 92+ are better, would it be a good idea to upgrade to the 92 style or just replace the factory brakes and get the spindles for the 91? Also, any suggestions on a brand? DJM, Belltech, Western Chassis? Have western chassis on my 80 and happy with it, but if anyone knows where I could find a good deal on pretty much anything besides chassis tech i'd be all ears! Also, anyone with an 88-98 c-10 with a static drop, what drop are you running, and would you recommend the 5/7 over the 4/6, or are most of you with the 4/6 happy with it? Thanks a lot for any input into this thread.

P.S. Recommended wheel/tire combos with a 4/6 or 5/7 drop would be greatly appreciated as well!!!

I used to work at a Chevy dealer as a mechanic, and I bought a new truck every year. I lowered several of them. I only used Belltech parts and never had an issue. The reason I chose Belltech was reputation. We sold conversion trucks on our lot that were lowered. The conversion company would only use Belltech because they stood behind their products. That's important on a brand new 20 plus thousand dollar truck that has a warranty. Folks don't want any issues on a new vehicle.

Here's my last one, a 97. I used Belltech stuff under it with KYB shocks. Drop is 5/6 with 17 inch wheels. I sold it to a teenage kid here in town in 2000 and he's still driving it like shown in the picture. Sorry about the poor quality picture, but it was before I had a digital camera (late 90's sometime).

By the way, I never updated the brakes on any of the trucks. I just ordered the correct spindle Belltech calls for that year model. Also, if you order from Summit, the shipping is free. That's a huge savings, as a full drop kit weighs a ton and UPs would eat you up.

For a 4-6 drop
255x60-15's on an 8" rim front, and 275x60-15 on a 8" rear.
255x50-17's on an 8" rim front, and 275x50-17 on a 9" rear.
255x35-20's all around on an 8.5" rim
all these rims need a 5" or 5'5" backspacing for a lowered truck.

Mine in the picture above had 17x8 wheels with 5 inch BS on all four corners
255/50/17 front
275/50/17 rear
