I have a 1972 c-10. I placed a new right fender and wheel well on it along with a new radiator support. I have tried for 3 days to get the grill to fit with no success. It seems like the grill will not go back far enough on the fenders it almost seems like the grill is not wide enough. Has anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions would help before I trade it for a FORD.

you sure you dont have a gmc fender by mistake?

Could be a GMC fender never thought of that. THe bozo I bought this from took 3 weeks to get it in and then the parts were not in boxes. Is there a way I can tell if it is a GMC fender. Would that make it not fit?

I replace my right front fender and radiator supports om my 72 also. I installed the aftermarket grill surround and the original grill. The fit of the surround was tight. Too tight. (save it) I ended up rolling the edges in with the handle of a ball peen. I did not roll it enough so now I gotta do it again. Make sure the verticle brackets (don't know the name of em) on the outboard sides are not bent up too. My right one was bent up pretty good and I did not notice it untill after I had riveted on the 8 upper rivets. I still managed to get 1 rivet in on the bent bracket... The original grill fit well with no mods as I remember.

just put your original fender beside the one you bought and have a close look where the grill mounts onto the front, i believe the gmc fender has the extra ridge around the outside for the extra chrome trim. If you look closely from the front of the fenders you should be able to see the difference(if there is one)

Looked at the 2 fenders it is a chevy fender. I know when I put the wheel well on it was very hard to put on the fender so I must assume the junk that this guy sold me just doesn't fit together. Probably just start over next weekend and tear it all apart and try to make some modifications as I go.

Replacement fenders are normally never perfect, no matter who makes them. Some are better than others,. Since you did the radiator support also, I am suspecting that may be some of the problem. Make sure as you assemble them, that you keep everything loos till all the pieces are in place. I had to lengthend the holes in the little rad to front fender support on mine. I also find that assemble the outer pieces,grill etc, then go back and add the inner fenders. Mixing panels between vehicles, old & new or old and old can be frustrating sometimes getting everything to mate up. Some folks get it pretty quick, I am not normally that blessed and I will have to tweak and adjust (and say many bad words) before mine go back to my satisfactuion.

Even putting a truck back together with all the original parts can be a mind bender. Like said above, leave everything loose, drink Decafe' , and swear lots. Also, make sure you got lots of shimms. Even from the factory things didn't fit perfect.
