new member saying hello

Stumbled across the board and was very happy to find, I am restoring a 67 long bed. Am currently replacing the floor pans, rockers, rear corners. I also have a major problem. This truck sat for ten years, and the gas tank leaked and rotted the floor all the way across the back of the cab. Anyone ever had to replace this part of the floor? Gotta love the salt on the northeastern roads.

Welcome to the forums Bruce! It sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. This message board is addicting. If you spend too much time on here you'll never finish your truck, but you'll know how to do it.

Another WELCOME from Oregon. You'll find the greatest pickup advice on the net right here! I don't think I've ever seen one of these cabs rust across the back in the way you describe. You might have better luck just replacing the entire cab. It's really not that difficult to do. Browse the parts forums, cabs come up for sale every once in a while.

Probably the fill neck grommet leaked and the carpet wicked it up causing the floor to rust out.

It happens here in the soggy north too

Welcome from Wisconsin, I have a couple cabs with the same problem, be interesting to see if it is repairable, or more work than its worth.

Welcome from Central VA. I've seen the signs to the Cowtown Rodeo. My brother used to live in Glassboro and Marlton. It sounds like your truck may actually be more rusted than mine, which I didn't think was possible. Mine sat for 5 years without a grommet over the filler neck, and the floor across the back of the cab is fine. The cab corner under the filler neck, however, is non existant.
