Setting up new carb! first start?
Yello!
I have everything together for the first start of the season! My ? is I have a rebuilt carb on there that is going to need setting up, should I take the Ign. wire off the dizzy so it won't start to get fuel to the bowls. Then set the bowls or just start it and set things up? Cheers

the bowl will fill up fast enough just crank on it and pump it a few times while cranking.

What kind of carb is it?
Bolt it on, set up the vacuum lines, give the accel pump a couple of pulls until gas starts comming out of the jets under the venturis, and fire it up. Done. After that it's just a function of adjusting idle, mixture screws, accel arm, etc. You also may have to check for leaks around any mating surface (carb-to-intake, airhorn assembly, fuel leaks, vacuum lines, etc.). If you're one of the unlucky ones who has a fuel pump that isn't putting out the pressure the carb wants it could cause problems, but don't worry about that until you're forced to deal with it. Some mechanical fuel pumps overwhelm the floats and you can flood your truck.
