One will hop at certain speeds but they can smooth out pretty nice. I run low air pressure (20-25 lbs). Not great on really wet highways. If could be sure I would get a good tire I would try to replace the one but who knows??? May be worse.

Re: My Stepside.......
Hope to have a few bugs worked out this week and back at the body shop. The big tires and inner fenders need to be put on it. Other than that lots and lots of cleaning. It sat in a body shop since Thanksgiving.
I have been working tons of overtime and haven't had the time to go work on it. Last edited by Mudder; 03-30-2006 at 01:11 PM. |

Re: My Stepside.......
I remember that was one of the first trucks I saw back when I joined this forum, my goal is to someday own a 67-78 chevy 4x4.

Re: My Stepside.......
Thanks guys. The stroker is in and the truck is back home now as of yesterday so I have a lot of things to do to it. Its filthy and I have a lot of wire looms to replace with red, etc. Stero isn't working and that wil be one of the first things I tackle.

Re: My Stepside.......
I didn't really put my foot in it on the way home but I did notice that the engine was running about 3-400 rpm's less with this engine compared to the old 350 at highways speeds. I was running a little warm so I took it easy. I have changed the crank pulley today hoping that it will cool things off a little more.

Re: My Stepside.......
Hi. My name is Cody, and I'm 17 years old. I'm new to the site.I bought my '71 Chevy Stepside about a year and a half ago. When I first got the truck, I found those pictures of your truck on this site and printed them and hung them on my wall. I immediatly then began to plan the build-up of mine. Your truck motivated me to get busy working on mine. I'm still planning on a cowl hood and a sunvisor, but I haven't got that far yet. So far this is what I got.
-'71 Chevy stepside body, sitting on a '79 Chevy SWB 4x4 frame and running gear.I've got the front end set off and old motor pulled out, and everything ready for the mild .030 over 350ci, flattops, 282 Elgin cam, Performer intake, Edelbrock 600cfm carb., Flowtech ceramic coated headers, fresh heads, TCI 2500 stall, built th350 and a personally undesired NP203 transfer case. Its got a 4" Rough Country lift, and 35x12.50 Mastercraft tires I'm very excited to get it all put back together. I'm seventeen working part-time during school and summers to make money to build this truck, but all the saving should pay-off when I finally get to drive it again. It should feel like a totally different truck.I hope. I hope yall like it. I'm trying to put the picture here, hope it works. |

Re: My Stepside.......
Mudder Did you do a build thread with this truck? Or take pictures as you built it? I, as your biggest fan would love to see them.
