I got an Old Air Products twin ele fan kit. Its a complete drop in unit that uses your stock fan shroud bolts. It even has a thermostat for the second fan. Why rig something if a properly fitting unit is made?

When you guys are looking for a setup check the caprices and buick roadmasters! The set here has the rods that attach to the intake and some intakes don'd have a place for these! I had a vortec motor with one of these setups and it sucked! The later truck brackets don't use these rods either I don't think!

the cut in the pulley is normal. Id run an electric fan myself. HErs a pic of your serp setup all cleaned up and mounted theu look sweet in IMHO

Did you get the A\C compressor and Alt? GM makes an idler pulley to replace A\C. If you are going to run A\C and not drill PS head for top bolt I would use the braces.

What do you mean drill the PS head for top bolt? I am going to have to buy the A/C delete pulley, possibly from Wes @ ClassicHeartbeat. How much is the GM pulley?

PS heads on our year trucks would normally need an additional hole drilled and tapped to be able to put top bolt in serp brackets. Some people, me included, don't bother with this others say you need it. Some GM techs say its alright to run without. But I would run braces with A\C, seeing as you're not its your call.

Instead of running a metal fan, I am running electric fans. They cost me less than $80 total.
On the subject of the needed hole in the head for the bracket mounting, I don't have that hole. I chose to use the rod that goes from behind the tensioner to the front intake bolt on the driver's side. No problems yet and well over 2000 miles on it so far. (installed rod after picture was taken).

A guy on the 99+ parts board has electric fans I think from a newer Camaro for sale. I'm sure you you make those work.

Bryan, it looks like the belt tensioner pulley. They were in a few different places depneding on year and engine model from what I remember.

Yellow69, dunno. I'll drag it to work tomarrow, box it and scale it and let ya know. That pulley is an idler. The tensioner is the pulley to the right of the ac delete pulley.

You still need the bolt though and it is probably "special". I bought mine new GM and it was $54 if I recall correctly. Came with the bolt though.

They already answered this, but that is a idler pulley. And I also marked the rod that I am using because of the missing hole in my passenger side head. Works great.

I forgot to bring the fan to work today. Cut me some slack

03:45 is early! Will try again tomarrow. I also have an illustrated parts list for this with GM#'s to boot... Gotta find it.

In relation to the missing bolt on the passenger head. I contacted GM Performance Parts. They insisted that the bracket would hold up without the bolt. Mine has not cracked after a year+ so far. Brackets sound like a good idea though. I think there is actually 2 used.

No problem on the fan. It's not like I have anything to put it on. I understand about it being early. I work 6p-6a and they just promoted me to Detective on Monday so now I'm working days. It sucks TOO MANY PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH!!!!!!!!

hey Bryan, go ahead and get youtself a metal aftermarket idler pully. i got one for $16 at orielly's the other day. the stock one was plastic and the bearing went bad and it melted the plastic one in seconds.

been waiting on those pics Eric, looks killer.
