Tach question
Well I bought a tach from summit awhile ago. It was working great until driving back from the exhaust shop when all of a sudden it just quite working. Now right after this my coil bit the dust so I was wondering if that might have been the reason the tach stopped working. My question is, do you think I blew the tach or could it be the connection to the tach in the coil just blew first and then the rest of the coil went? At the moment I'm waiting for my new coil to get here but for now is there anyway for me to test the tach to see if its toast? It would have to be a test that I could perform without the truck being started as I have no backup coil to start the truck.
Thanks for the help.

Can you easily hook the tach to another vehicle to test it.

I thought of that but I don't have another vehical that I could easily hook it up to. I was wondering if there was anything that my multimeter could detect. I'm starting to get impatient waiting on this coil..its been a week and I'm ready and roaring to stick the new one back in and see if the truck runs. Oh well I guess this should be a good lesson in patients..ugh.

Stupid question -
Did you have exhaust work done at the exhaust shop? If so check to see if they bumped the tach wire on to the exhaust which could have melted the insulation on the tach signal wire grounding it to the engine.
