Unhappy '91 Steering wheel on my '70 Burb-I need Help!

I have been trying to put the '91 Chevy 1/2 Ton Pickup steering wheel on my '70 Suburban and can not figure out how it goes on. I know these will work. I have seen many of these trucks with them. What is it I am doing wrong? I need step by step instructions. I need help. Thanks

What are you having trouble with? Getting the steering wheel on? Getting the old one off? Getting the horn to work?

I got the old one off-no problem there. Getting the '91 on "and" making sure the horn will work. There is the problem. I tried to push the wheel on but would not go all the way. Just do not know what to do now. Thought it would be an easy swap. Wrong.

Question

Is it catching the splines or not I put 1 on a van tilt and it would not go on all the way but would still catch splines.It would lack about a 1/4" from going all the way on,I took a grinder and worked down the coller on the shaft and it went right on.

I am not to sure about a grinder "yet". Sledge hammer- maby. I am about ready to just put the old one back on.

The biggest problem I had with mine was getting the old one off. I didn't bother with trying to get the horn to work. The only problem I had with my s-10 steering wheel was fixing the boogered threads on the shaft (told ya I had he!! getting the old one off). Thread file fixed that.

make sure the splines on the inside of the wheel are clean and undamaged. mine slid right on, took me about 45 minutes to makemy stuff work without the donor parts. if your horn has a wire like mine did. i pulled the metal rod out and caught all the parts. soldered a wire on to the spring, put the sprind and the little keeper thingy back in and then crimped a connector on the end of the wire. clear as mudd?
